Landing Area Selection / Preparation

- Landing area must be at least 75 ft. x 75 ft. (preferably 100 ft. x 100 ft.).
- An approach and a departure path, clear of obstructions as indicated in the diagram above, must be available
without requiring overflight of personnel or loose equipment or objects on the ground.
- Landing area must be kept clear of vehicles and personnel while aircraft is landing, taking off or has the rotors are in motion.
- All loose items or portable objects such as tents, displays or tables that may be blown
around by the aircraft rotorwash must be removed from the area within 200 feet of the landing
zone or properly secured before the aircraft arrives or departs.
- Do not approach the aircraft while the rotors are in motion unless cleared to do so by a flight
team member. Smoking within 50 feet of the aircraft is prohibited at all times.
- It is helpful if the landing area is marked by traffic cones or flares at the perimeter or corners.
- The Pilot is the final authority for the safe operation of the aircraft and will not land if the conditions are not acceptable for safe flight operations.
