Flight Nurses

The MedEvac Flight Nurse is a highly qualified critical care specialist well experienced in both the Pre-Hospital and Critical Care Unit environments. Partnered with the MedEvac Flight Paramedics, our nurses play a crucial role in performing both emergent pre-hospital transports and the most complex of inter-facility critical care transports. Often, the patients are simply too ill or severely injured to survive ground transport, and require interventions outside the scope of practice for a typical ground transport team.

LVH MedEvac

Each Flight Nurse must meet specific nursing requirements that include Pennsylvania RN licensure, Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN), or Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) and optional Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) certifications. The Flight Nurses also must maintain their Pennsylvania pre-hospital PHRN status and currency in courses of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and either PreHospital or Basic Trauma Life Support (PHTLS or BTLS).

Whether caring for patients with serious traumatic injuries, patients on intra-aortic balloon pumps, ventricular assist devices, and thrombolytics or those with high risk obstetrics, neonatal resuscitations, or pediatric cardiac surgical patients where our flight team may be supplemented by a subspecialty team, MedEvac is there to provide the right care for the right patient at the right time - when minutes matter.
